Mendelssohn’s portrayal of the prophet Elijah is one of the most dramatic of all oratorios. With a flow of stirring choruses, heart-felt arias and theatrical interplay, Mendelssohn’s considerable gifts as a composer of vocal music are on full display. A stellar cast of soloists and the Apollo Chorus of Chicago, this will be one of the year’s greatest musical events.

Behind the Music Stand with Ted Hatmaker begins 1 hour and 15 minutes before the concert.
