Classical Giants with the CSO's William Welter

Elmhurst, IL - The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra welcomes William Welter for Classical Giants on November 16, 2025 at 3:00PM at the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church. Welter joins Music Director Stephen Alltop in an all-classical program of Mozart and Beethoven. William Welter is the principal oboist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and makes his debut with the Elmhurst Symphony this fall.


The afternoon will begin with a Pre-Concert Talk at 1:45 PM giving additional insight into the music and enhancing the concert experience for attendees.

What’s Interesting:

  • William Welter, principal oboist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, makes his solo debut with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra on this all-classical program.
  • Mozart’s Oboe Concerto was composed in 1777 when Mozart was just 21 years old. The concert is one of the most popular pieces of oboe repertoire.

Third Annual September Soirée Sets New Fundraising Record Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra patrons, musicians, and staff joined together on Tuesday evening for the third annual September Soirée to raise funds for the 2025/2026 Season. The event took place at Wilder Mansion, included catering by Modern Plate, and featured a performance by ESO Principal Harpist Janelle Lake. The event set a new fundraising record for the annual kickoff party, surpassing the previous year and generating more than $50,000 for the ESO's upcoming season. Contributions are still needed and can be made online today.
