We had a quick chat with Linda about her involvement with the Elmhurst Symphony and how she got started in music. Here's what she had to say.

How long have you played with ESO?

I have played in the ESO since 1985.

What instrument do you play and how did you gravitate to that instrument?

I play cello. I chose the cello in 4th grade in School District 101 Western Springs. My 4th grade reasoning for choosing the cello was that I didn't want a sore neck from playing violin.

What piece is on your bucket list to play with ESO and why?

With almost 40 years of playing with ESO, under both Dale Clevenger and Stephen Alltop, I've played a great variety of music. I'm always game for trying something from a living composer.

Biography

Linda grew up playing both cello and piano and dabbled in organ while in college.  Here’s a fun fact about Linda: she met her husband, Gary, in their 4th grade orchestra class. They have been married 32 years and have one son, Paul.

Linda studied music and business at DePauw University.  After graduating, she worked for Deloitte (formerly Touche Ross) for close to 20 years. She is active in her church and currently serves as their Treasurer.

Linda has served on the Elmhurst Symphony Board since 2018 and currently serves as President of the Board.
