Meghan Razzini gave us the scoop on her involvement with the ESO and how she got started...

How long have you played with ESO?

I've played with the ESO since 2022. I sat in on a rehearsal as a college student and was amazed at the level of musicianship. I wanted to join as soon as possible!

What instrument do you play and how did you gravitate to that instrument?

I started on piano when I was 7 or 8 years old. When I was in 4th grade, I had the opportunity to join band and orchestra at school, so I decided to try a string instrument. I distinctly remember hearing one of the luthiers play a viola while at the store, and the sound sent shivers down my spine. I decided right then and there that viola was the instrument for me. The Upper Arlington orchestra program was a highly formative experience and my teachers had a significant impact on my development as a person and musician. I'm blessed to have had wonderful mentors and still remain connected with them.

What piece is on your bucket list to play with ESO and why?

It's hard to pick just one piece! I discovered Amy Beach's Gaelic Symphony a few years ago and fell in love with her composition style. I am a huge advocate for promoting female composers, especially women whose works aren't performed very often. Stravinsky's Firebird Suite would be a great piece to play in a future season.
