Biography
Tetyana Vakhnovska, renowned state-awarded Ukrainian mezzo-soprano, immigrated to the United States in 2022. She graduated from the National Academy of Music in Lviv, Ukraine and was a leading opera singer at the National Opera in Lviv for over fifteen years.
Tetyana toured internationally with concerts and opera productions in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, China and the United States.
She credits her high achievements to working with well-recognized European directors and conductors while performing leading parts for mezzo-soprano, including Carmen in Bizet's Carmen , Azucena in Verdi's Il Trovatore , Ulrika in Verdi's Un Ballo in Mascera , Amneris in Verdi's Aida , Suzuki in Puccini's Madame Butterfly , Fenena in Verdi's Nabucco , and Maddalena in Verdi's Rigoletto.
Also in Tetyana’s repertoire is Mozart’s Requiem , Verdi’s Requiem , Rossini’s Little Solemn Mass , Mahler’s Symphony #2 , Beethoven’s Symphony #9, Bach’s St Matthew Passion , Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater , Haydn’s The Seven Last Words , and Dvorak’s Stabat Mater. She performed solo in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra under music director and conductor Dr. Stephen Alltop.
In cooperation with "Revived Soldiers Ukraine", the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America gave concerts in New York and Chicago. In support of Ukraine, Tetyana performed in UCCA’s concerts at the Holy Name Cathedral , Alice Millar Chapel and the Ukrainian National Museum in Chicago, IL.
Tetyana currently works as a piano and voice teacher at Bel Canto Music Academy (Burr Ridge, IL) and Knight Music Academy (North Barrington, IL). She also teaches private singing and piano lessons to both children and adults.
